Why is everyone talking about meditation these days?
There are so many benefits that meditation can bring to your life, but first and foremost, it’s important for your mental health. It’s essential for us to learn self-regulation and how to calm down our nervous system so that we’re not in a constant state of fight-or-flight. In today’s fast-paced world, we can compare that stressful work email from our boss to our body thinking we’re being chased by a lion. Since logically, we know this isn’t true, we need to learn to tell our bodies this as well. Rather than sending our sympathetic nervous system into overdrive every time we hear a ping from our phone, meditation gives us the tools to build awareness. We begin to notice our bodies’ reaction to a situation, allowing us the time to choose how we wish to respond. In time, as we meditate regularly, we bring mindful awareness into our everyday life helping reduce stress, anxiety, pain, creating emotional balance, and improving self-awareness.
The goal of my classes is to bring the tools I’ve learned through my own meditation practice and share them with my clients. I believe we all have a built-in “wellness toolkit” that allows us the tools for self-regulation. By learning how to tap into these resources, each one of us can begin to heal our mind and body. Over the past several years, I've turned to meditation as a way to heal my mind and body and I would love the opportunity to show you how to do the same!
